Application of Reading Strategies

Description: In this entry you will find an explication about tools and tips to be able to read texts with unfamiliar words.

Reflection:

I think one of my best skills in English is reading, because I can easily memorize many words. However, in English there are more words than I can memorize. For this, to help myself when using several tools to understand better, although I don’t know the meaning of these words, it results very healthy for me while doing an exam.

When I started to do this exercise, at first I felt a bit confused about the meaning of the words I read. Afterwards I started using some tools to help myself to read and understand the main ideas easily.

For me, the most important element is to develop my knowledge in this language by reading and understanding, in other words: reading comprehension. I should practice more these Reading Strategies (identification of the main idea, the context, contrast and restatement clues, among others) to be able to apply them in the best possible way in the texts.

Additionally, I must read more articles in English, probably about my career, so that I’ll increase my vocabulary level.

Perhaps I will use the website "British Council" since it has several podcasts that refer to business.
